What is a Scholarship? 

A scholarship is a non-repayable financial grant awarded to successful and financially needy students in higher education. In this context, many institutions, organizations, and foundations may provide scholarships.

Who Can Apply for Scholarships?
Associate, undergraduate, and graduate students are eligible to apply.
Students Eligible for Scholarships

The eligibility of students for scholarships varies depending on the institution, organization, or foundation to which they apply. Therefore, students are advised to obtain this information directly from the relevant institutions, organizations, or foundations.

What is a Student Loan?

A student loan is financial support provided to Turkish citizens enrolled in higher education institutions, with the aim of assisting them financially and facilitating their social and cultural development. It is granted for the regular duration of their studies and constitutes repayable financial aid without any compulsory service obligation.

The student loan debt is calculated by adding the increases in the Domestic Producer Price Index (D-PPI) announced by the Turkish Statistical Institute to the amounts disbursed to the student during the normal duration of study.

Undergraduate students
Graduate students (Master’s and PhD)
Note: A student cannot receive both a scholarship and a student loan at the same time.
 
Students Not Eligible for Student Loans
Students who have already graduated from a higher education institution (except for vertical transfer and graduate programs at Master’s and Doctoral levels).
Students enrolled in additional time beyond the normal period of study.
Associate degree graduates who interrupt their studies and later start an adaptation (intibak) program, except for health reasons.
  Students enrolled in adaptation (intibak) programs to transfer from associate to bachelor’s degree (during the adaptation period).
Students who, at the time of application, have failed for more than one academic year or have interrupted their studies for more than one year.
Students who have previously received a scholarship or student loan from the institution.
Students who provide false or misleading information in their applications.
Foreign national students.
Students who have been permanently expelled from institution dormitories.
Students convicted with a final court judgment.
Students enrolled in open education or distance education programs
Students deemed ineligible to receive a loan under the provisions of the Student Loan Regulation..
 

Note: For students receiving a student loan whose status changes afterwards, if they fall within the category of students prioritized for scholarships as determined by the Administrative Board in the academic year of the change, their student loans will be converted into scholarships starting from the following payment period, provided that they document the change in their status..

What is a Tuition Contribution Loan?

A tuition contribution loan is the amount, determined by the Council of Ministers as the current service cost per student in higher education institutions, that remains outside the state contribution and is paid by the Institution on behalf of the student to the account of the higher education institution as a repayable loan.

NEEDS-BASED SUPPORTS

 

Needs-Based Scholarship (Meal Support):
This scholarship is provided by the Rectorate of Osmaniye Korkut Ata University to students of the university who are determined by the Unit Scholarship Commissions and the Health, Culture, and Sports (SKS) Coordination Office as being in need of meal support during the academic year.

Legal Basis:
Article 46, paragraph (j) of the Higher Education Law No. 2547:
“Up to ten percent of the revenues obtained under this article may be used, as determined by the administrative board of the higher education institution, to cover the expenses of successful students with low income levels for books, stationery, nutrition, and accommodation support.”

 

The announcement is made by the Department of Health, Culture, and Sports at the beginning of the academic year.”
Quota: For each academic unit, quotas are allocated based on the total number of students.
 

Applications:
Applications are submitted by students to their respective academic units.

Evaluation:
Each academic unit evaluates the applications it receives within its allocated quota and in accordance with the above-mentioned regulations, and submits the list of eligible students to the Department of Health, Culture, and Sports.

For the students nominated by the academic units to benefit from the meal scholarship, the approval of the Rectorate is required. Based on this approval, students may begin to use the meal scholarship in all university dining halls.
