| Scholarships During the Mevlana Exchange Program: Issues Related to Students | |
|
During the period of participation in the Mevlana Exchange Program, students continue to receive any other scholarships or loans they have been granted, and they must remain registered at their home higher education institution. They are required to pay their tuition or contribution fees to their home institution and are not charged any additional tuition fees by the host higher education institution. The amount of scholarship provided to students during their participation in the exchange program varies according to the economic living standards of the host country. Within the scope of the Mevlana Exchange Program, a scholarship may be granted to Mevlana students—up to three times the monthly scholarship amount paid to undergraduate students under Law No. 5102 on Scholarships and Loans for Higher Education Students—at rates determined by the Executive Board of the Council of Higher Education (YÖK). Students coming to Turkish higher education institutions from different parts of the world under the Mevlana Exchange Program are also granted scholarships at rates determined by the YÖK Executive Board. Of the total scholarship amount to be paid to the student, 70% is paid monthly. The payment of the remaining amount is based on the ratio of the total credits of successfully completed courses to the total credits of all courses the student was required to take. If the allocated institutional funds for the exchange are insufficient, and provided that other program requirements are met, students may still participate in the program through self-funding or private scholarships.
