The Master’s Program with Thesis in Painting Main Art Branch is offered within the Department of Painting, Faculty of Architecture, Design and Fine Arts, and is affiliated with the Graduate School of Osmaniye Korkut Ata University.
HISTORY
The Master’s Program with Thesis in Painting Main Art Branch at Osmaniye Korkut Ata University, under the Institute of Social Sciences, commenced its educational activities in the 2020–2021 academic year with a quota of 15 students. The Main Art Branch has 4 faculty members. Students are able to benefit from the campus facilities such as the library, cafeteria, dining hall, as well as open and closed sports areas.
MASTER’S PROGRAM WITH THESIS IN PAINTING MAIN ART BRANCH
The Master’s Program with Thesis in Painting Main Art Branch, which began in the 2020–2021 academic year with an intake of 15 students, is a higher education program that includes at least four semesters of coursework, scientific research, and practical activities. It is designed for graduates holding a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) from domestic or international institutions, aiming to specialize in the field of Painting, to prepare for doctoral studies, or to develop advanced knowledge and skills.
The field of Painting provides opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration with areas such as Culture, Arts (visual and performing arts), Museology, and Art Education. The program also allows coordination with related disciplines such as ceramics, graphic design, visual arts, architecture, interior architecture, sculpture, and other artistic fields.

The Master’s Program with Thesis in Painting Main Art Branch aims to educate individuals who can conduct education, training, and advanced research in the field of Painting; who produce knowledge and share it at national and international platforms; who contribute to the field through scientific research; who are committed to Atatürk’s principles and reforms; who embrace lifelong learning; who participate in scientific and social activities; who adopt a scientific attitude; who can establish interdisciplinary connections; who can think critically and creatively; and who have the competencies to take part in academic environments.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS FOR THE MASTER’S PROGRAM WITH THESIS
Applicants who meet the necessary requirements may be admitted to the Master’s Program with Thesis in Painting Main Art Branch at Osmaniye Korkut Ata University Graduate School of Social Sciences. Eligible applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree in Painting, Sculpture, Ceramics, or Graphic Design from a Faculty of Fine Arts, or in Art Education (Painting) from a Faculty of Education, and meet the admission criteria of the Graduate School.
Applicants from non-painting-related undergraduate programs are required to complete a preparatory year of scientific foundation courses, determined by the decision of the Main Art Branch Council based on their transcripts. Upon successful completion of these courses, students may proceed to take graduate-level courses.
EVALUATION PROCESS OF THE MASTER’S PROGRAM WITH THESIS
The ranking of applicants invited for the Scientific Exam and Portfolio (File) Review will be calculated as follows: 70% of the Scientific Exam (Written Exam) score, 15% of the Portfolio Presentation score, 5% of the Undergraduate GPA, and 10% of the Foreign Language score. Applicants who do not submit proof of foreign language proficiency will receive a zero score in this category. Candidates with a minimum total score of 55 will be ranked, and admission will be announced within the available quota. In case of a tie, priority will be given to candidates with higher Undergraduate GPA and Foreign Language scores.
GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS FOR THE MASTER’S PROGRAM WITH THESIS
To earn a master’s degree in Painting Main Art Branch, students must successfully complete a minimum of 7 courses with no fewer than 21 credits (excluding Seminar and Specialization Courses), pass the compulsory courses, and prepare and defend a master’s thesis in accordance with the regulations of Osmaniye Korkut Ata University Graduate Education.
ACCESS TO HIGHER DEGREE PROGRAMS
Graduates who successfully complete the Master’s Program with Thesis in Painting Main Art Branch may apply to doctoral programs at Osmaniye Korkut Ata University (if offered in the future) or at other universities.
NON-THESIS MASTER’S PROGRAM (EVENING EDUCATION) APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS
The Non-Thesis Master’s Program in Painting Main Art Branch (Evening Education), under the Graduate School of Osmaniye Korkut Ata University, began admitting students in the 2023–2024 academic year.
