The Department of Painting commenced its educational activities in the 2020–2021 academic year with an intake capacity of 30 students and offers a four-year bachelor’s program; the language of instruction is Turkish. The program is supported by Painting–Drawing Studios, a Basic Art Education Studio, a Printmaking Studio, a Perspective Studio, a Photography Studio, a Three-Dimensional Art Practice Studio, theoretical classrooms, a seminar room for graduate students, and an exhibition hall, enabling the program to achieve its educational objectives. The curriculum includes theoretical courses such as Aesthetics, Art History, Concepts and Theories of Art, Philosophy of Art, Art Criticism, Mythology and Iconography, Turkish Mythology, History of Civilization, and Contemporary Art History, alongside practical courses such as Painting Studio, Drawing, Basic Art Education, Printmaking, Photography, and Three-Dimensional Art Studio. In theoretical courses, lectures, research, analysis, and discussion methods are employed; in all theoretical and practical courses, equipment that allows for visual examples and interactive applications is utilized. Graduates who complete the program with strong theoretical knowledge and artistic practice may work as independent artists; as painters or art consultants in private institutions and public organizations; or as academic staff in educational and research institutions in the field of fine arts. Students who receive pedagogical formation training may work as Visual Arts Teachers in institutions affiliated with the Ministry of National Education (MoNE). Moreover, the economic growth of the art market in Türkiye and worldwide offers extensive opportunities to graduates, particularly through galleries.

Purpose Of The Department |

The department aims to educate artist-candidates who possess the knowledge and skills to employ multiple disciplinary fields in tandem; who are shaped by ideas that can contribute to humanity in a contemporary and universal sense; who are open to scientific inquiry, committed to ethical principles, original in identity, inquisitive and innovative; who research all cultures; and who are creative individuals capable of representing themselves and their country in artistic activities at national and international levels. Additionally, the program seeks to develop students’ constructive and creative capacities through disciplined observation; to cultivate the intuitive faculty that underpins creativity; to foster the ability to interpret objects and the relationships among them; and to provide an education that instills the requisite cultural foundation for apprehending the nature of art and the logic of visual thinking.
