HISTORY
The Painting Department, established in 2017 within the Faculty of Architecture, Design, and Fine Arts at Osmaniye Korkut Ata University, began its education and training activities in the 2020-2021 academic year with a quota of 30 students. In addition, the 'Painting Department Thesis-Based Master's Program' opened within the Painting Department in the 2020-2021 academic year with a quota of 15 students.
DEPARTMENT OF PAINTING
The Department of Painting, which began its education and training activities in the 2020-2021 academic year with a quota of 30 students, offers a four-year undergraduate program, and the language of instruction is Turkish. The program offers a variety of programs to achieve its educational objectives: Painting and Drawing Workshops, Basic Art Education Workshop, Printmaking Workshop, Perspective Workshop, Photography Workshop, Three-Dimensional Art Application Workshop, Theoretical Classrooms, a Seminar Room for Graduate Students, and an Exhibition Hall. The program curriculum includes theoretical courses such as Aesthetics, Art History, Art Concepts and Theories, Philosophy of Art, Art Criticism, Mythology and Iconography, Turkish Mythology, Aesthetics, History of Civilization, and Contemporary Art History, as well as applied courses such as Painting Workshop, Drawing, Basic Art Education, Printmaking, Photography, and Three-Dimensional Art Workshop. Theoretical courses utilize oral presentation, research, analysis, and discussion methods, while all theoretical and practical courses utilize equipment that facilitates visual examples and interactive applications. Students who graduate from the program, which offers theoretical and artistic practice, are well-equipped to work as freelance artists, painters in private and public institutions, art consultants, and academic staff in fine arts education and research institutions. Students who complete pedagogical training can also work as visual arts teachers in institutions affiliated with the Ministry of National Education. Furthermore, the economic growth of the art market in Turkey and globally naturally offers ample opportunities for art department graduates through galleries.
PURPOSE OF DEPARTMENT
The department's goal is to cultivate aspiring artists who possess the knowledge and skills to integrate diverse disciplines, as required by today's understanding of art; who are informed by ideas that can contribute to humanity in a contemporary and universal sense; who are open to scientific thought, committed to ethical principles, possess a unique identity, are inquisitive, innovative, explore all cultures, and are creative; and who can represent themselves and their country in national and international artistic events. Furthermore, it aims to develop students' constructive and creative powers through disciplined observation, their intuition, the foundation of creativity, and their ability to interpret objects and their relationships. It also aims to provide the necessary education to foster a culture that will foster an understanding of the nature of art and the logic of visual thought.
EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES OF THE DEPARTMENT
The Painting Department's primary goal is to effectively participate among institutions offering Fine Arts Education in Turkey. To empower students to grasp theoretical and practical issues and create works based on original understanding. To provide education that fosters the necessary culture to understand the nature of art and the logic of visual thought. To contribute to the aesthetic and cultural values of the city. Our goal is to provide a holistic, interdisciplinary education that fosters employment and contributes to productivity through a globally accredited curriculum.

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
Graduates of the Painting Department will be awarded the title of “Painter.” Those who obtain a teaching certificate may work as subject teachers in their field. They may also be employed as realizators, respond to demands for decorative painting, or work as designers in private studios and various sectors. In addition, graduates who meet the necessary requirements may pursue an academic career and hold positions in higher education institutions.
Today, art is regarded as a service sector in public education centers, as it strengthens individual creativity and communication. Therefore, there is a growing demand for well-trained professionals who are competent and productive in their field.
