| What is a Minor Program? |
A minor program is an academic track that allows students, who successfully pursue their major undergraduate program, to take a limited number of courses in another field of interest. The enrolled undergraduate program is referred to as the “major,” while the accepted secondary program is called the “minor.” In order to receive a minor certificate in addition to the major diploma upon graduation, students must successfully complete all requirements of the minor program. |
| What Are the General Requirements for Pursuing a Minor Program? | |
Students who wish to pursue a minor program may begin in the semester of their application, provided that their academic performance in the most recently completed term has been reviewed and found to meet the eligibility requirements |
| The student must not have any failed or pending courses. | |
| Eligibility for admission to a minor program requires a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50/4.00 in the major program at the time of application | |
A student who fails to meet this requirement, or who does not register for any courses from the minor program for two consecutive semesters despite the availability of required or eligible courses, will have their enrollment in the minor program terminated |
| It is not permitted to enroll in more than one minor program simultaneously. | |
| When to Apply for a Minor Program? | |
| A student may apply for a minor program no earlier than the beginning of the third semester and no later than the beginning of the sixth semester of the major undergraduate program. | |
In cases where the number of applications to the minor program exceeds the available quota, priority is given based on the applicants’ cumulative grade point average (CGPA). If the CGPA is equal, the total number of credits successfully completed by the student is taken into consideration, with preference given to those who have completed more credits. If the total number of credits is also equal, the student’s national university entrance examination ranking (ÖSYM) at the time of admission to the higher education institution is used as the final criterion. |
| The Relationship Between Major and Minor Programs | |
The minor program does not in any way affect the student’s academic performance or graduation status in the major undergraduate program. Upon completion of the major program, the student is awarded the undergraduate diploma of the major field. |
| Students who complete the minor program are provided with a transcript indicating the courses they have taken within the minor program. | |

A student who becomes eligible for graduation from the major program and successfully completes the minor program with a minimum GPA of 2.00/4.00 is awarded a minor certificate. |
