The solo painting exhibition of Asst. Prof. Dr. Damla CAN KOÇ from the Department of Painting, Faculty of Architecture, Design and Fine Arts, was opened on November 16, 2020, at Ankara Fırça Art Gallery.
The exhibition features 26 artworks created using various techniques and applied on different surfaces.
Dr. Damla CAN KOÇ describes the general theme of her paintings as follows:
“This exhibition is the production of today’s world of intertwined and successive visual bombardment through a linear and plastic language. The paintings are based on a new visual truth. The concept of reality formed in these works is an evaluation that relies solely on the perception and viewpoint of the creator. This plastic inquiry—concerning perception and reality—relates to the concept of Post-Truth, emphasized by Steve Tesich, which is grounded in perception-based constructions of individuals in our era. The power of social media has increased to such an extent that all incoming information and images are accepted as real without being questioned. For this reason, the notion of objective reality is being blurred. In fact, the concept of reality has always been a phenomenon that slips away from human grasp—constantly changing and manipulated in every age.”
