ABOUT EXEMPTION AND COURSE ADAPTATION FORMS
The purpose of this directive is to determine the principles of exemption and course adaptation for students newly enrolled at Osmaniye Korkut Ata University, including those who have previously completed and passed courses at any higher education institution, whether within or outside Osmaniye Korkut Ata University.
General Provisions on Exemption and Course Adaptation
a) If both national credits and ECTS credits are indicated for each course on the student’s transcript, the national credit shall be taken as the basis. Otherwise, the compatibility of ECTS credits and weekly course hours will be considered as the evaluation criterion. Subparagraph (c) of this article is excluded from this scope.
b) Course exemptions are granted based on course equivalency. The minimum passing grade accepted for equivalency is “CC”. Courses with grades below “CC” will not be considered for exemption.
If the grading system differs, grades are converted into our university’s grading scale based on the Council of Higher Education’s (YÖK) “4-point and 5-point conversion system.” In special cases (including international transfers), the conversion criteria are determined by the Exemption and Adaptation Committee.
Courses marked as “Pass” or “Exempt” are automatically assigned a “CC” grade.
c) To be exempted from the courses Atatürk’s Principles and History of Reforms, Turkish Language, Foreign Language, and Basic Information Technologies, students must have achieved a minimum grade of “CC” or higher. Courses graded as “Pass” or “Exempt” will be recorded as “CC.”
ç) Students who have completed an English preparatory class and have been evaluated as “Successful” or “Proficient” may, upon request, be exempted from compulsory English courses and be assigned a “CC” grade. If a numeric grade is available, the provisions of subparagraph (b) shall apply.
d) The exemption of social and technical elective courses is determined by the Exemption and Adaptation Committee.
e) If multiple courses are deemed equivalent to a single course, the total number of credits of these courses must be equal to or greater than the total credit value of the corresponding course in the department. Even if a previous course carries more credits than the target course, it can only count as one course equivalency.

STEPS FOR FILLING OUT THE FORM
1️⃣ The form must be completed digitally (on a computer).
2️⃣ All personal information fields must be filled out accurately and completely.
3️⃣ Enter the course code, title, credit/ECTS value, and letter grade correctly for each course you have completed in your previous institution.
4️⃣ The course you wish to be exempted from in our department must be listed on the same line as the corresponding course from your previous institution.

The course you wish to match (e.g., “Drawing”) must correspond to the same type of course in our department.
Please ensure that all courses you wish to be exempted from are listed on the same line as their equivalent courses.
Exemption requests should cover all four years of study (not only first-year courses).

Additional Required Documents
5️⃣ You must provide course descriptions of the courses you have completed at your previous institution. These can be obtained from the institution’s official website or its Bologna page (printed or digital copies are acceptable).
6️⃣ You must also submit your official transcript, either approved by your previous institution or downloaded via e-Government (e-Devlet).
APPLICATION PROCESS
The application process consists of two stages:
Stage 1:
Send your completed Exemption and Adaptation Form and Transcript via e-mail to:

Stage 2:
Submit your Exemption and Adaptation Form, including the petition section at the top, together with your Course Descriptions and Transcript to the Painting Department Secretariat in person.
Both digital submission and in-person delivery are required. Please complete both steps on the same day.
