What is it? |
Students who will study in the Turkish-medium departments of our university may apply to the School of Foreign Languages and attend the Voluntary English Preparatory Program for one year and PLEX is the exam that students have to take to be admitted to the program. |
How many times is it held? |
PLEX is held once at the beginning of each academic year. Each student can benefit from this right only once. |
Who can take it? |
All newly enrolled students of the faculties and schools affiliated with our university that offer Turkish-medium education. |
Is PLEX compulsory? |
PLEX is a compulsory exam for students who wish to continue their studies in the Voluntary English Preparatory Program. |
Scope and Content of the Exam |
- PLEX is designed to assess candidates’ reading, grammar, and vocabulary skills either separately or in an integrated way. - The exam consists of multiple-choice questions, including different types such as reading comprehension, recognizing grammar rules, completing blanks with appropriate words, and translation. - The number of questions varies between 25 and 50. |
Admission Requirement |
If the number of applicants exceeds the quota, students are admitted to the Voluntary Preparatory Program based on the criteria determined and announced by the School Board (e.g., ÖSYM placement score, placement exam results, etc.).

Other Information |
- The date, time, and place of PLEX are determined and announced by the School Directorate in accordance with the academic calendar. - No make-up exam is administered for students who cannot take the exam for any reason. - The exam is conducted in a single session on the announced date and time. - Students who wish to take the exam must apply using the application method announced by the School Directorate. Students who do not apply within the announced period will not be admitted to the exam. |
