EXEMPTION FROM COMMON ENGLISH COURSES

 

The following students are exempt from the Common Foreign Language (English) Courses:

1.

Those who take the CENEX, the Common English Exemption Exam administered by SFL, and score at least 50.

2.

Those who successfully complete the Voluntary English Preparatory Program offered by SFL.

3.

Those who have previously studied at a higher education institution and received at least a “CC” letter grade in CEN courses.

4.

Those who have completed their secondary education at institutions in a country where English is spoken as the native language or is accepted as an official language, and where citizens of that country attend secondary education institutions.

5.

Those who score at least 50 on the YDS/e-YDS exams conducted by ÖSYM in the last three years, or those who, at the time of exemption application, obtain at least 50 points from any of the other national and international foreign language exams according to the current ÖSYM Foreign Language Exam Equivalence Table.

Note:

Students who wish to be exempt from these courses by presenting documents proving that they have previously completed the relevant Common Foreign Language (English) courses at another university OR a certificate showing that they have received at least 50 points (or an equivalent score) from one of the central English exams (YDS, TOEFL, etc.) conducted in the last three years must submit the relevant documents to their department.
