What is CENEX? CENEX is an exam designed for students who wish to be exempt from the compulsory Common English Course I and Common English Course II offered in all Turkish-medium faculties and schools affiliated with Osmaniye Korkut Ata University.
How often is it administered? CENEX is administered once at the beginning of each academic year. Each student may exercise this right only once.
Who can take CENEX?
  • Students who are newly enrolled in a Turkish-medium faculty or school affiliated with the university and will take Common English Course I and Common English Course II for the first time.
Is CENEX mandatory? Applying for or taking the exemption exam is not mandatory. Only students who wish to be exempt from Common English Course I and Common English Course II may take the exam.
Exam Scope and Content
  • Candidates’ reading comprehension, grammar, and vocabulary skills are assessed separately or in an integrated manner.
  • The exam consists of multiple-choice questions and may include reading comprehension, grammar, gap-filling, and translation questions.
  • The number of questions varies between 25 and 50.
Success Criterion Students who score at least 50 points on the exam are considered successful. Students who are unsuccessful must take Common English Course I and Common English Course II.

Additional Information
  • The exam date, venue, and time are announced in accordance with the academic calendar.
  • No make-up exam is administered.
  • The exam is administered in a single session on the announced date and at the announced time.
  • Applications are received through the method announced by the School of Foreign Languages. Students who do not apply within the specified application period may not take the exam.
