Lateral Transfer |
It is the transfer of a student from one higher education institution to another (from one university to another or from one institute that implements equivalent education programs within the same university to another) in which he/she is registered. In short, horizontal transfer can be made between universities as well as within a university. |
Osmaniye Korkut Ata University (OKU) Graduate Education Institute's principles regarding horizontal transfers are as follows: |
|
1. |
Successful students who are registered in another department/main art branch within the relevant institute or in postgraduate programs affiliated with other higher education institutions and have completed at least one semester can be accepted to postgraduate programs through horizontal transfer. Students can be accepted to postgraduate education programs through horizontal transfer according to the quota announced at the beginning of each semester. |
2. |
The number of students to be admitted through horizontal transfer and the necessary conditions are decided by the institute board upon the recommendation of the department/branch board. Students who will apply for horizontal transfer must attach to their petition a document showing the courses and grades they have taken in the program they are registered, their registration date, the semesters they have attended and their disciplinary status. |
3. |
Lateral transfer requests of students at the thesis stage are decided by the institute's board of directors upon the recommendation of the department/branch board, after examining the student's documents specified in paragraph (b) and his/her status regarding the study subject. |
4. |
Requests for lateral transfer between thesis and non-thesis programs are decided by the institute's board of directors after the department/branch board examines the documents specified in paragraph (b) and prepares a report to the institute regarding whether the student's transfer to the program is appropriate. |
5. |
For lateral transfer, the student must meet the program's admission requirements, pass all courses in the program he/she entered, and have a grade point average of at least 2.50 out of 4.00 for a master's degree, at least 3.00 out of 4.00 for a doctorate, or a grade corresponding to these grades in the equivalence table determined by the Council of Higher Education in the 100-point grading system. |
6. |
Lateral transfers are made on the dates announced each year. The student's adaptation to the programs to which he/she is accepted is decided by the institute's board of directors, after taking the opinion of the department/branch board. |
7. |
The duration of completion of a program by a student who enrolls in a program through lateral transfer is the duration of the program specified in this Regulation, including the time previously used. |
8. |
Acceptance of previously taken courses or credit equivalence and exemption of students from courses are determined by the institute's administrative board upon the recommendation of the department/branch board. |
