What is a Minor Program?

A minor is a program that allows students who successfully complete their major undergraduate programs to take a limited number of courses in another field they are interested in. The undergraduate program they are enrolled in is called a "major", and the undergraduate program whose application is accepted is called a "minor". In order to receive a minor certificate in addition to the major diploma at graduation, the minor program requirements must be completed.

What are the general conditions for applying to a minor program?

Students who want to start the minor program can start the minor program in the semester they apply, provided that they meet the success conditions by reviewing the courses they completed in the last semester.

The student should not have a retake course.

In order for a student to apply for a minor program, their major GPA must be at least 2.50/4.00 at the time of application.

Students who fail to meet this requirement or who fail to take courses from the minor program for two consecutive semesters despite the courses they are required to take or can take being opened will be dismissed from the minor program.

It is not possible to register for more than one minor program at the same time.

When to Apply for a Minor Program?

Students can apply for the minor program at the earliest at the beginning of the third semester and at the latest at the beginning of the sixth semester of the major undergraduate program.

If the number of applications for the minor program exceeds the quota, the general grade point average is taken into consideration first, and if the average is equal, the total credits completed by the student are taken into consideration. Priority is given to students who have completed more credits. If the total number of credits is also equal, the selection is made by taking into account the ÖSYM result ranking in the year the student entered the higher education institution.

Relationships Between Major and Minor Programs?

The student's success and graduation from the major program are not affected in any way due to the minor program. Students who graduate from their major are given a major undergraduate diploma.

Students who complete the minor program are given a transcript showing the courses they took in the minor program.

Are There Grade Criteria for Continuing in a Minor Program? What Are the Success Conditions?

In order to continue in the minor program, the student's major GPA must be at least 2.00/4.00. If the major GPA falls below 2.00/4.00, the student's registration from the minor program will be cancelled.

Students who have earned the right to graduate from the major program and completed the minor program with a GPA of at least 2.00/4.00 are given a minor certificate.

Students who complete a minor program cannot benefit from the rights and privileges granted with a bachelor's or associate's degree in the minor field.

What are the Application Conditions, Dates and Quotas for the Minor Program?

Application conditions, dates and quotas for OKU students who want to do a minor are determined by the Senate and announced on the Student Affairs Department's website.

Is there a minor program in our department?

There is a minor program in our department. Our students who continue their education in Nutrition and Dietetics, Child Development, Midwifery, Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation, Gerontology, Nursing and Health Management programs can minor in the Social Work program.
