“Health Managers’ Day” Program Organized by the Health Management Club
The program, which brought together faculty members of the Faculty of Health Sciences and students of the Health Management Department, opened with remarks by Asst. Prof. İrem Kefe. Concluding her address with the following statements, Asst. Prof. Kefe then gave the floor to Asst. Prof. Serap Taşkaya, Chair of the Health Management Department, to deliver a presentation titled “Managerial Errors”:
“The history of Health Management as an academic field in our country dates back to the 1960s. The first instruction began in 1963 at the School of Health Administration under the Directorate General of Vocational Education of the Ministry of Health. In 1970, the School of Hospital Administration was established at Hacettepe University and offered graduate education until 1975. That year, the program’s name was changed to the School of Health Administration; this school, which continued to provide education between 1975 and 1982, was consolidated within Hacettepe University in 1982. In March 2015, by a decision of the Council of Higher Education (YÖK), program names were again standardized as ‘Health Management.’ At present, there are approximately 150 universities offering Health Management programs. This year, for the first time, the Minister of Health, Fahrettin Koca, celebrated Health Managers’ Day on his social media accounts. As of this year, 400 positions have been opened in the field. We are celebrating the 62nd year of a journey that began in 1963. I wholeheartedly congratulate you all on this day.”
The 18 December Health Managers’ Day program concluded with a celebration organized by the students of the Health Management Department.
