“Energy Specialized Industrial Zone” with an area of 13 million 471 thousand 964¸34 m2 established in Ceyhan in accordance with the decision of the Council of Ministers dated 19/9/2007 with the Osmaniye, Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan and Kirkuk-Yumurtalik oil pipelines. It is the closest province to the Yumurtalik Free Zone. For this reason, refineries to be established in the region, petrochemical plants, oil and gas storage facilities, shipyards and ports, power plants and treatment plants, manufacturing industry, etc. The importance of the Faculty of Engineering is evident in providing qualified employment and consultancy services to businesses and at the same time creating industrial R&D projects within the framework of university-industry cooperation.
In addition, according to the socio-economic development rankings of the provinces, Osmaniye ranks 47th in terms of socio-economic development. It will be possible for Osmaniye to go higher than its current rank, especially when it gains momentum in industry, service and tourism sectors. In order for the industry to gain momentum in a fast and in accordance with today's conditions, it is necessary to join technical staff with higher education and to establish new technology-based enterprises. Therefore, in Osmaniye, within the scope of Osmaniye Korkut Ata University Faculty of Engineering, in order to effectively evaluate its existing potential and to increase the development level of the province; Departments of Energy Systems Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Food Engineering, Geodesy and Photogrammetry Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical-Electronics Engineering have been established, and the works on the establishment of Mechatronics Engineering, Software Engineering Departments are ongoing.

In addition, the Faculty of Engineering will have a special importance since Osmaniye is at the center of Gaziantep, Kahramanmaraş, Adana and Hatay provinces and the industrial presence in these provinces is attractive.
Industrial establishments in Osmaniye are generally small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs). These enterprises have problems related to financing, research, product and quality development, marketing, technology and efficiency, and there are difficulties in obtaining skilled labor.
