Osmaniye is a province located in the Mediterranean region, in the south of Turkey. Osmaniye has a surface area of 3.767 square kilometres with a population of 506,807 according to the data of 2015.
Osmaniye, which is situated in upper Çukurova- in the eastern part of the River Ceyhan with all the vast hinterland- is a wetland thanks to the River Ceyhan and Hamıs, Karaçay, Kesiksuyu and Sabun brooks, and is a busy area since it is located at the crossroads connecting Çukurova to the east.
Osmaniye is bordered by provinces of Gaziantep to the east, Hatay to the south, Adana to the west and Kahramanmaraş to the north. The districts of Osmaniye are Bahçe, Düziçi, Hasanbeyli, Kadirli, Sumbas ve Toprakkale.
Osmaniye, a charming province with its vast forests and rich agricultural lands, which are special to Çukurova, is a major tourism centre including Karatepe, Aslantaş Open Air Museum and Ancient cities.
Though the Mediterranean climate dominates throughout the province, its effect gradually reduces in the mountainous area. The weather in the summer is hot and dry whereas the winter is mild and rainy. The average annual temperature is 18 ° C and the amount of precipitation is 750-850 mm.
The main sources of income are agriculture and stockbreeding and Osmaniye meets Turkey's peanut production by 50%.
