Horizontal Transfer |
This refers to a student transferring from one higher education institution to another (from one university to another, or from one institute to another within the same university that offers equivalent academic programs). In short, horizontal transfers can occur between universities as well as within the same university. |
The principles regarding horizontal transfers for the Postgraduate Education Institute of Osmaniye Korkut Ata University (OKU) are as follows: |
1. |
A successful student who is enrolled in another department/major art field within the relevant institute or in a postgraduate program at another higher education institution and has completed at least one semester may be admitted to postgraduate programs through horizontal transfer. Students can be admitted to postgraduate education programs through horizontal transfer based on the number of available slots announced at the beginning of each semester. |
2. |
The number of students to be admitted via horizontal transfer and the required conditions are determined by the institute board upon the recommendation of the department/major art field board. Students applying for horizontal transfer must attach a document to their application petition indicating the courses taken and grades received in their current program, the date of registration, the semesters they have studied, and their disciplinary status. |
3. |
The horizontal transfer requests of students in the thesis stage are decided by the institute administrative board upon the recommendation of the department/major art field board, following an examination of the documents specified in subsection (b) and the student's status regarding their thesis topic. |
4. |
Requests for horizontal transfer between programs with and without a thesis are decided by the institute administrative board after the department/major art field board examines the documents specified in subsection (b) and reports to the institute on whether the student is suitable for transfer. |
5. |
For horizontal transfer, the student must meet the program's admission requirements, have successfully completed all courses in their previous program, and have a minimum GPA of at least 2.50 out of 4.00 for a master's program, and at least 3.00 out of 4.00 for a doctoral program, or the equivalent grades in the 100-point grading system as determined by the equivalency table of the Council of Higher Education (YÖK). |
6. |
Horizontal transfers are conducted on dates announced annually. The adaptation of the student to the program they are accepted into is decided by the institute administrative board based on the opinion of the department/major art field board. |
7. |
The duration for a student who has registered in a program via horizontal transfer to complete their program is the duration specified in this Regulation, including the time they have already spent. |
8. |
The acceptance of previously taken courses or their credit equivalence, and the student's exemption from courses, is determined by the institute administrative board upon the recommendation of the department/major art field board. |
