Department of Biology
Osmaniye Korkut Ata University was established by the 84th Additional Article of Law No. 5662, which entered into force upon its publication in the Official Gazette dated May 29, 2007, and numbered 26536. The Faculty of Science and Letters was established by the same law and on the same date as our university. Our Biology Department began its educational and research activities by accepting undergraduate students in the 2009-2010 academic year
Purpose of the Department

LThe name of the department comes from the combination of the Latin words bio (living) and logy (science). The Department of Biology, which conducts education and research on the distribution, anatomy, and physiology of living organisms on Earth, operates effectively in every environment where living organisms exist. It is divided into many sub-branches such as Medicine, Pharmacology, Agriculture, Environment, Ecology, Physiology, Genetics, Embryology, Anatomy, Taxonomy, Histology, Morphology, Microbiology, Cytology, etc. In this context, the aim of our department is to train graduates who are equipped with theoretical and practical knowledge in the field of life sciences, who are committed to ethical values, and who have the knowledge and skills to carry out current research and applications. In addition, the majority of our graduates pursue postgraduate studies both domestically and internationally.

Department Goal
Our department's goal is to provide educational opportunities in important research topics emerging in the field of biology. Considered the science of the 21st century, biology is of vital importance to Turkey due to its necessity in shaping environmental policy, protecting biological diversity, and enabling sectors that utilize biotechnology. Biological sciences offer opportunities to study various fields based on biological principles that govern the behavior of living matter at the molecular, cellular, organism, and population levels. To prepare students for work in research and teaching, industry, agriculture, forestry, and public health, the course catalog includes major subjects such as molecular and cellular biology, genetics, physiology, embryology, microbiology, biochemistry, plant and animal biology, environmental biology, and plant and animal systematics.
